CHF welcomes Katherine Burchfield, new CEO of NPS-MedicineWise
The Consumers Health Forum welcomes the appointment of Katherine Burchfield as CEO of NPS MedicineWise.
The significant role NPS-MedicineWise plays in the promotion of Quality Use of Medicines, with the support of CHF, makes Katherine’s appointment of vital interest to CHF.
“Katherine’s wide experience in previous positions in different health sectors bodes well for NPS-MedicineWise,” the CEO of CHF, Leanne Wells said.
“She brings to her new post wide experience in the health system, including in integrated care and in her previous position leading the establishment of Australia’s largest paediatric allied health telecare program at Royal Far West.
“CHF’s role as the primary consumer partner on QUM with NPS-MedicineWise underlines the importance of QUM to safe, quality patient care.
“It is important for consumers to be both advocates of QUM but also to be supported to have the literacy and information they need to use medicines wisely and appropriately .
“CHF and NPS have a Working Together agreement which sets out areas of common interest where we collaborate to ensure consumers are at the centre of our efforts to achieve quality use of medicines and better health decision-making.
“We look forward to working with Katherine, to continue our strong relationship in helping to shape the best outcome from the recently-launched review of the National Medicines Policy,” Ms Wells said.
